08/08/26 Weekend Grif.Net – Hidden Peace

My wife shared that August 5th was her &#=
8220;spiritual birthday”. In 1957 she trusted Christ alone for salvat=
ion, rejecting the works of church rituals, turning from sin in genuine rep=
entance, and submitting to Him as Lord and Savior.

I remember one o=
f the first times I ever heard her was in our college Chapel. Her beautiful=
soprano voice singing the song “Hidden Peace” and touched my h=
eart. She sang it on many occasions as the president’s wife was a wel=
l-known speaker and when she traveled, she had Teresa come as soloist.=

I =
don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone else sing it. To me it will =
always be “her” song,

&=
nbsp;

1. I cannot tell thee whence it came,This peace within my breast;
But this I know, there fills my soul
A=
strange and tranquil rest.

Refrain
There’s a deep, settled peac=
e in my soul,
There’s a deep, settled peace in my soul,
Tho&#82=
17; the billows of sin near me roll,

The=
re’s a deep, settled peace in my soul.

2. Beneath the toil and care=
of life,
This hidden stream flows on;
My weary soul no longer thirst=
s,
Nor am I sad and lone. [Refrain]

3. I cannot tell the half of love,=

Unfeigned, supreme, divine,
That caused my darkest inmost self
Wi=
th beams of hope to shine. [Refrain]

4. I cannot tell thee why He choseTo suffer and to die,
But if I suffer here with Him
I’ll reig=
n with Him on high. [Refrain]

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. A=
t the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the w=
ord, to declare the mystery of Christ.” (Col. 4:2-3)
