I was asked if I knew about how old the biblical patriarch Isaac was when he
went with his father Abraham to be offered as a human sacrifice on Mt
Moriah.
I put on my professorial face and shared that “While the chronology allows
different views and we cannot be certain, I would say he was probably 13-18
years old at the time.”
I was told, “Wrong”, so immediately asked why.
My friend said, “He had to be 12 or younger. If Isaac had been a teenager,
then it wouldn’t have been a real ‘sacrifice’ for Abraham.”
