The world turns upside down for each of us many time=
s during life. As one ages (say 78, for instance) the body wears down and w=
e begin to see the end of this preamble we call ‘life on earth’=
as we begin to face eternal life with our Savior.
This doesn’t m=
ake social, family, medical, financial, or physical upheavals easier just b=
ecause they come at this stage of living. We know what God ordains is right=
if we are His child, even in difficult times, but no one intentionally cho=
oses pain or trials. We’d all like a Disneyland life (without the cro=
wds and extravagant prices).

In my life I faced peripheral neuropathy, wi=
th a constant level of pain for the past 30 years. I suffered a right-brain=
stroke a decade ago, and for the past year have endured mental, emotional-=
and physical challenges without knowing the cause.
This week I was diag=
nosed with Parkinson’s Disease which answers the issues of the past y=
ear. I had 4 major falls, challenges walking and driving, and unexplained d=
epression cycles, so my GP ordered scans and tests from the Neurology speci=
alist. While cognitively I scored high, the physical showed the presence of=
this condition. Parkinson’s is not a “death sentence” bu=
t will change my life dramatically in coming months and does shorten life. =
I have begun medication and will start physical therapy for walking and =
not falling next week, after an MRI. I plan to continue the Grif.Net Blog, =
started in September 1996 and celebrating thirty years. I ask all fai=
thful readers to remember me (and Teresa) in prayer. We may give occasional=
updates in future years, but for as long as I am able, the inane and funny=
posts continue and the more serious weekend posts (like this one) as well.=
And focus on the promises of God…
“The steps of a good man a=
re established by the LORD, when He delights in his way; though he falls, h=
e shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand.” Psalm 3=
7:23-24
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afrai=
d; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvat=
ion.” Isaiah 12:2
