My visit to the doctor earlier this month led to a n=
ew prescription. Been a couple of weeks and I looked at the bottle for info=
rmation.

I phoned the clinic. "Is it true," I wanted to know,=
 "that the new medication prescribed has to be taken fo=
r the rest of my life?"

"’=
Yes, I’m afraid so,"’ the nurse told me. 

There was a moment of silence as I looked at the bott=
le again, then I replied, "I’m wondering, then, could you ask the=
doctor just how serious my condition is?” 

The nurse wondered why I was so concerned.  So,=
I said, “Because this prescription is marked ‘NO REFILLS’.&quot=
