[We=E2=80=99ve enjoyed this past week repeating the Grif Net=
email/blog posts from April 2000, some of which were odd and funny THEN an=
d mildly amusing NOW.]
Bored Royal Air Force pilots stationed on the Falkla=
nd Islands have devised what they consider a marvelous new game.=
Noting tha=
t the local penguins are fascinated by airplanes, the pilots search out a b=
each where the birds are gathered and fly slowly along it at the water’s ed=
ge. Perhaps ten thousand penguins turn their heads in unison watching the p=
lanes go by, and when the pilots turn around and fly back, the birds turn t=
heir heads in the opposite direction, like spectators at a slow-motion tenn=
is match.
Then, the paper reports, "The pilots fly out to sea and dire=
ctly back to the penguin colony and overfly it.=C2=A0 Heads go up, up, up, =
and ten thousand penguins fall over gently onto their backs."
