02/11/23 Weekend Grif.Net – Setting “Smart” Goals

Working on REAL plans for my health in 2023. We live in a 55-ac=
re retirement village in the lovely city of Watertown, with hundreds of ind=
ependent-living residents in 4 apartment complexes or 72 surrounding homes =
(like ours) + 2 assisted living, a memory-care unit, and a nursing home. We=
have many perks of “Life Enrichment”: in social areas (activit=
ies, programs); in intellectual areas (classes, speakers); in spiritual are=
as (faith-based services, programs, classes) and in physical areas (fitness=
center, classes, diet, training staff).

In every area, we ar=
e advised to be “S.M.A.R.T.” in setting our personal goals. The=
y should be . . .

SPECIFIC

MEASURABLE

 =

ATTAINABLE

REALISTIC

&nb=
sp;

TRACKABLE

If I were still preaching, I think I coul=
d work that into a sermon outline on living the Christian life, on praying,=
on reading the Bible, or even on giving. S.M.A.R.T.

I will leave it up to you wh=
ether you just want “S.M.A.R.T.” goals for your diet, your work=
, your investments, your weight, your spiritual journey, or your education.=
The resolutions/goals I considered on Jan 1st are long-buried i=
n the dust bin, but now I am working to develop “S.M.A.R.T.” re=
placement goals that will last.
