Even airline =
counter workers can mess up the odd 3-letter International Air Transport =
Association’s (IATA) location =
identifier airport codes. On one trip I flew home to Casper, =
Wyoming (CPR) but they typed my bag label with the code of Corpus =
Christi, Texas (CRP). I can see that honest mistake and admit to =
flipping letters when I type on a daily basis. But do you know =
what city your bag would end up in with these USA airport codes? I =
have actually flown into 6 of the 17 (if you count the example and the =
bonus airport codes), so you may know one of these from first-hand =
experience.
Example: =
ORD =3D Chicago (before renaming its far western airport after War =
hero Ed “Butch” O’Hare who won the Medal of Honor by =
attacking unaided a squadron of Japanese bombers that had swooped down =
on the USS Lexington (downing 6 bombers), the airport was called Orchard =
Field – hence the ORD as its IATA code)
