The=
re is a tug in my heart between Minnesota and Wisconsin. I was =
born and reared in Minnesota and did my undergrad at Pillsbury =
College. But did the rest of college/grad school in Wisconsin. Had =
our first apartment as newlyweds in Wisconsin and pastored two churches =
14 years in Wisconsin. All three of our kids were born in =
Wisconsin and now in retirement we have moved back in that state. =
An unbiased survey was taken (of only Wisconsin residents) on =
why Wisconsin rules over Minnesota. They all know that, of course, but =
for some reason, those people over there in Minnesota have this idea =
that THEY are somehow better than we are. They even have a Facebook page =
(with like 100 people) declaring that Minnesota is better than us. =
But=
here is a baker’s dozen of irrefutable reasons why Wisconsin is =
SO much better than Minnesota:
1. =
Wisconsin has MORE than 15,000 lakes but we’re not obsessed with =
talking about how many we have.
2. =
Wisconsin has the Packers who actually wins Super Bowls.
3. =
Wisconsin has 6 times more freeway miles compared to Minnesota for easy =
travel to every part of the state.
4. =
Wisconsin’s cold and snow are charming, but Minnesota’s is not =
even tolerable for Eskimos.
5. =
Wisconsin cheese rules. Can’t imagine a place where you =
can’t buy fresh or fried curds as an appetizer.
6. =
Wisconsin has 4 times the tourism and people come to visit the state, =
not just to drive through it to get somewhere nice.
7. =
Wisconsin people do not talk like their weird western neighbors =
(youbetcha).
8. =
Wisconsin celebrates brats and burgers, not lutefisk and =
lefse.
9. =
Wisconsin has more people, less tax (Minnesota even taxes social =
security checks on us retirees) and is much more conservative =
politically.
10.=
Wisconsin cost of living is 80.6 compared to 97.2 (under 100 is good, =
but lower score is better)
11.=
Wisconsin is ‘America’s Dairyland’, with half the =
state as farmland, giving new meaning of ‘farm to =
table’.
12.=
Wisconsin has far more natural attractions, local festivals, food that =
tastes great but will probably kill you, and greater diversity of =
population.
Bon=
us: Wisconsin and Minnesota are almost identical in total population, =
but Wisconsin’s top ten city metro areas contain 24% of the =
population compared to nearly 60% of Minnesotans trapped in the Twin =
Cities metro.
