P=E4ivi R=E4s=E4nen, a member of the Finnish Parliament, is cur=
rently on trial, accused of violating a Finnish law that prohibits ‘W=
ar Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity.’ He is specially charged with =
hate crimes against a minority group.
&=
nbsp;
What on earth did this politician say that =
was such a vile crime? According to state prosecutors, R=E4s=E4nen committe=
d the crime by “quoting the Bible” in support of traditional un=
derstandings of human nature and sexuality.
While prosecutors claim that they&#=
8217;re not attempting to restrict religion per se, only certain public exp=
ressions, they are attempting to decide what can and cannot be said and don=
e in the name of religion.
The prosecution openly admitted that the point of the=
ir case isn’t whether what R=E4s=E4nen quoted from the Bible was R=
20;true or not, but that it was insulting”.
[Solemn reminder that the Bible=
is true, and to those who are perishing, it is foolishness and confrontati=
onal to their sin. Proclaiming truth will cause them to hate us as it hated=
our Lord. But continue on, despite opposition; the Gospel is the only mess=
age of hope for the sinner.]
