A cyber-friend =
of mine wrote me a note in July 2000 and I came across it this morning . =
. .
“I am =
enjoying your great sense of humor, of which you cannot hide between =
serious lines. You have a great webpage at www.grif.net and I couldn’t =
finish reading them with a straight face! It reminded me of the writer =
of ‘Oh, The Wonder of It All’.
There’s the =
wonder of sunset at evening,
The wonder as sunrise I see;
But the =
wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is the wonder that God loves =
me.
Refrain
O, the wonder of it all! The wonder of it =
all!
Just to think that God loves me.
O, the wonder of it all! The =
wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.
There’s the =
wonder of springtime and harvest,
The sky, the stars, the sun;
But =
the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is a wonder that’s only =
begun
In his old age =
Evangelist Rodney “Gypsy” Smith was still vibrant, his eyes =
sparkling, and his face full of joy. When Ira Sankey asked him what his =
secret was, the famed evangelist said, "I haven’t lost the =
wonder of it all."
Sankey was so =
impressed that he wrote the above hymn based on Gypsy’s abiding faith =
and joy in the Lord.
Dr. Bob, you =
reminded me of that little story. My prayer is that you may never lose =
the wonder of it all. Keep the joy of the Lord and spread it around. =
There are a lot of Baptists who act like they were baptized in pickle =
juice. God bless you!”
[thank you, =
Brother Halo, for your kind words to me and great reminder to all the =
grif net blog readers never to lose the ‘wonder of it =
all’]
