10/07/21 Grif.Net – 25th Anniversary (part 4)

[Reflecting on =
the Fall of 1996, we celebrate 25 years of sending blog posts to =
thousands of recipients.  Pillsbury College in Owatonna, Minnesota, =
was struggling and asked me to leave my mission church ministry in =
Wyoming and help teach some classes on education. This led to years =
commuting and assisting in this ministry. Part of that was helping set =
up a computer lab and promote the new personal internet system on =
campus.  Sending notes, quizzes, and lots of jokes led to the daily =
Grif Net blog today.  This week you get to see a few bits of lame =
humor we sent that first month, proving that age does not make things =
better.]

For 300 years =
there was no more common English man’s name employed throughout the =
language than "JACK".  It (and its twin "JOHN" =
which is now a totally separate name but still used interchangeably, =
i.e. John Kennedy/Jack Kennedy) have been incorporated into stories, =
tales, rhymes, and hundreds of words in English.  My friend Gene =
helped compiled the following which we have "adapted" (that’s =
computer language for "stolen with little change and no =
remorse").  The word JACK will appear in every =
answer.
