All of our home-school children were asked to create a picture of something
to do with the REAL Christmas story and bring it to church. Lovely and
imaginative creations adorned our meeting room as each child explained his
vision of Christmas.
Wise men, Star, Angels, Shepherds – all expected fare for such a project.
But one boy had drawn a jet fighter. In the back seat of the cockpit was a
mom and dad holding a little baby. I had to ask exactly what this
represented.
“This is Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus and the flight to Egypt”, was his
somber answer.
“But”, I asked further, “who is the one flying the jet?”
Without hesitation he said, “Pontius the Pilate”.
Makes sense to me.
