I would not have the restless will
That hurries to and fro,
Seeking for some great thing to do,
Or secret thing to know;
I would be treated as a child,
And guided where I go.
Content to fill a little space,
If thou be glorified.
(Anna L. Waring, 1830)
This poem’s first stanza sums up much of my life’s ambition and activity as
I am usually running to seeking something. The second is so hard for me. My
prayer today is that in my entire being God might be glorified.
And in you as well.
