11/25/15 Grif.Net – Thanksgiving Blessing

[I=
n case you are asked tomorrow to share a blessing at the Thanksgiving =
meal, here is a little humor.]

May our stuffing be tasty,
May =
our turkey be plump,
May our potatoes and gravy
Have nary a =
lump.
May our yams be delicious
And our pies take the =
prize,
And may our Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of our =
thighs!

[N=
ow this is a more serious blessing.  It is a three-in-one poem, =
prayer and song.  Sung to the tune of “We Gather =
Together”, the old Dutch hymn of victory and praise often sung in =
our churches this time of year, that must know.]

O=
ur table is set now; great food you can bet now.
It’s Thanksgiving =
Day, and we’re ready to eat;
All those near and dear us are here =
today to cheer us.
This dinner is a winner, a wonderful =
treat.

It’s time to be thankful for all that God gives =
us;
Dear Lord, we are grateful; Dear God, hear our prayer.
It’s =
You we are praising; our voices we are raising;
Bless us and bless =
this food; keep us safe in your care.
