10/25/14 Weekend Grif.Net – Pro Choice

[The Weekend Grif.Net is always a serious look at issues.]

Elections are coming up in a week and some of you may not know that I am
“Pro-Choice”. Of course, NOT as it is improperly defined in our
post-Christian America. I believe that everyone has a free CHOICE to make a
baby or not.

But once a baby is conceived, the CHOICE is over. As a pastor/counselor, I
have dealt with the trauma of young (and old) women who have had abortions.
I have wept with them as they relate the nightmares and inner-feelings years
after this “simple procedure”. The guilt shows abortion can destroy more
than just the unborn baby’s innocent life.

But even some who claim to be PRO-LIFE make exceptions and show they do not
believe in the sanctity of life by considering an abortion as a possible
alternative. How would you handle the following four situations?

1. There’s a preacher and wife who are very poor. They already have 14
kids. Now she finds out she’s pregnant with her 15th. They live in
tremendous poverty. Considering their poverty and the excessive world
population, would you consider recommending she get an abortion?

2. The father is ill, the mother has TB. They had 4 children. The 1st is
blind, the 2nd died, the 3rd is deaf and the 4th has TB. She finds she’s
pregnant again. Given the extreme situation, would you consider
recommending abortion?

3. A white man rapes a 13 year old black girl and she got pregnant. If you
were her parents, would you consider recommending an abortion?

4. A teenage girl is pregnant. She’s not married. Her fiancĂ©e is not the
father of the baby, and he’s very upset. Would you consider recommending
abortion?

Just so you know . . if you have answered “yes” in any of these situations:

***In the first case, the baby was John Wesley, one of the great Christian
evangelists of the 19th century and founder of Methodism.

***In the second case, the baby was Ludwig von Beethoven.

***In the third case, the baby was Ethel Waters, the great black gospel
singer.

***In the fourth case, the baby was Jesus Christ.

Values matter. Biblical truth trumps feeling and opinion. Vote for what is
right, not who can spin lies and promises in attempts to buy your vote.
