With four granddaughters, I’m always on the lookout for great presents for
birthdays or Christmas. A week ago I went into a store to consider buying a
Barbie doll play set.
“How much is that Barbie in the window?” I asked the shop clerk with a
smile. (She was too young to get my word play, sadly).
In a condescending manner she responded, “Which Barbie? We have . .
Barbie Goes to the Gym for $19.95
Barbie Goes to the Ball for $19.95
Barbie Goes Shopping for $19.95
Barbie Goes to the Beach for $19.95
Barbie Goes Nightclubbing for $19.95
Barbie Goes to College for $19.95
Barbie Goes Horseback Riding for $19.95
Barbie Goes to the Pet Boutique for $19.95 and
Barbie Gets a Divorce for $299.95.”
You know me. I just had to ask, “Why is Divorced Barbie $299.95 when all the
others are only $19.95?”
“That’s obvious,” the assistant stated. “Divorced Barbie comes with Ken’s
house, Ken’s car, Ken’s boat, Ken’s furniture . . . ”
