04/28/14 Grif.Net – Good Things about Growing Old

After six weeks of being “older”, my bride catches up to me today. Another
year older. But celebrating it in style! So, what else “good” happens when
you get past 65? I’m trying to tell her that . . .

1. Kidnappers are no longer interested in you.

2. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.

3. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size.

4. Adult diapers are actually kind of convenient.

5. Gifts you get for your birthday won’t have time to wear out.

6. Your joints are more accurate at predicting weather than the Weather
channel.

7. In a hostage situation, you are likely to be released first.

8. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can’t remember them
either.

9. People call at 9:00 PM and ask “Did I wake you?”

10. You enjoy about hearing about other peoples operations.

11. You have a party and the neighbors don’t even realize it.

12. You understand there are few things in life worth waiting in line for.

13. When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, you think
about Algebra.

14. You sit in a rocker and it just seems to get started by itself.

15. You now can hide your own Easter eggs.

But seriously, my dear Teresa, as Jonathan Swift aptly said, “May you live
all the days of your life.”
