09/07/12 Grif.Net Blog – Overheard in First Grade

[Yesterday we shared some of the conversations between Ms Nelson the first
grade teacher and little Jacob. More excerpts today]

Ms Nelson: “Jacob, name one important thing we have today that we didn’t
have ten years ago.”
Jacob: “Me!”
~~

Ms Nelson: “Jacob, why do you always get so dirty?”
Jacob: “Well, I’m a lot closer to the ground than you are.”
~~

Ms Nelson: “Jacob, give me a sentence starting with ‘I’.”
Jacob: “I is…”
Ms Nelson: “Stop right there, Jacob. Always say, ‘I am.'”
Jacob: “All right … I am the ninth letter of the alphabet.”
~~

Ms Nelson: “Now, Jacob, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating?”
Jacob: “No ma’am, I don’t have to. My Mom is a good cook.”
~~

Ms Nelson: “Jacob, what do you call a person who keeps on talking when
people are no longer interested?”
Jacob: “A teacher.”
