After a rough first week in school, little first grader Jacob came up to
Mrs. Nelson and surprised his teacher by tapping her on the shoulder and
saying, “I don’t want to scare you, but my daddy says if I don’t get better
grades on my tests next week, somebody is going to get a spanking!”

I heard that Jacob came home from his first day at school and when his
mother asked what he learned today, he replied: “Not enough. I have to go
back tomorrow.”

Also overheard that during arts and craft time, he came up to the teacher’s
desk and said, “Mrs. Nelson, I ain’t got no crayons.”
“Jacob,” Mrs. Nelson kindly corrected, “you mean = ‘I don’t have any
crayons. We don’t have any crayons. They don’t have any crayons.’ Do you see
what I’m getting at?”
“Not really,” Jacob said. “What happened to all them crayons?”
