[Rather than just a single day to honor dads, I thought I would share some
father-fodder each day leading up to Father’s Day.]

“It matters not that Time has shed his thawless snow upon your head,
For he maintains, with wondrous art, perpetual summer in your heart.”
~William Hamilton Hayne

“He that raise a large family does, indeed, while he lives to observe them,
stand a broader mark for sorrow; but then he stands a broader mark for
pleasure, too.”
~Benjamin Franklin

I’d been a pastor for many years. On the drive home after a church service
my young son confided in me, “When I grow up, I’m going to get rich and give
you some money.”

“Well, thank you,” I replied, “but why?”

“Because everyone at church says you’re one of the poorest preachers we’ve
ever had.”
