08/09/08 Weekend Grif.Net – I’ve Had Enough Change

I was concerned about America when George W Bush was elected President. Not
sure he could do the job. Then 9.11 happened and we were attacked. He stood
up against terrorism and I’ve appreciated that. And the economy seemed
fairly stable. America weathered the storm

But in the mid-term elections in 2006, I was surprised again. I “thought”
things were going good.

*Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
*Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
*The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
*The DOW JONES hit a record high = 14,000 +
*American’s were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations, living large!

But Americans were sold a “bill of goods”, that things were NOT really great
and that we needed ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 America voted in a
Democrat-controlled Congress and yep–we got ‘CHANGE’ all right.

*Consumer confidence has plummeted;
*Gasoline is now $4 a gallon
*Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
*Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS & prices
still dropping;
*1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
*The DOW is probing another low as $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS has evaporated for
my stocks, bonds and mutual funds

Yep – In 2006 America voted for CHANGE . . and we got it. Now I’m already
hearing about the conventions and the Agenda of Change. Even heard, “I love
America but it needs to be CHANGED” as the 2008 race heats up

I wonder how much more change I can stand?
